Amazon Is Hiring 100,000 Workers Nationwide, Raising Pay for Hourly Workers

On Monday, Amazon announced it’s hiring 100,000 new workers throughout the country, according to The Los Angeles Times. Amazon will also bump up pay by $2 an hour for hourly workers until the end of April.

“We are seeing a significant increase in demand, which means our labor needs are unprecedented for this time of year,” said Dave Clark, the head of Amazon’s warehouse and delivery network. Amazon has experienced a surge of orders lately and has told customers to expect that it could take longer than two days to fulfill them.

The jobs the company are hiring for are a mix of part- and full-time doing everything from delivery driving to packing and shipping orders. If workers get coronavirus or must be quarantined, Amazon also said it would give them up to two weeks pay. Amazon is currently the second-largest employer in the United States, employing about 800,000 people.
