America Is Running Out of Pickup Trucks
First came toilet paper and hand sanitizer, and now there’s a shortage of pickup trucks in America. As Automotive News reports, “With North American auto plants closed since mid-March to protect workers from contracting COVID-19, some dealers say they are starting to run short on full-size pickups as a result of the generous financing offers rolled out as the coronavirus pandemic torpedoed the economy.” Specifically, pickup inventory could plunge to 260,000 nationwide by June, compared to more than 700,000 at the same juncture in 2019.
