Captain Marvel Still No. 1 at the Box Office Even though the movie dropped 55 percent, “Captain Marvel” is tops at the box office for the second week bringing in $69 million.  The latest Marvel film is still projected to pass the billion dollar mark in no time.  The film has brought already brought in $760 million worldwide and could very well hit the top 10 in highest-grossing films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The sophomore weekend decline of 55% is comparable to “Avengers: Infinity War.” At this pace, “Captain Marvel” should easily join the $1 billion club. Overseas, “Captain Marvel” crossed $494 million for a massive global haul of $760 million. In only two weeks, “Captain Marvel” has eclipsed the lifetime sums of numerous superhero adventures, including “Ant-Man and the Wasp” ($623 million), “Iron Man 2” ($624 million), “Thor: Dark World ($645 million), and “Captain America: Winter Soldier” ($714 million). It’s already the 22nd-biggest comic-book release ever.

We’ll see how it fares this weekend against the new Jordan Peele film “Us.”
