CDC Says Don’t Rely on Antibody Tests

CDC Says Don’t Rely on Antibody Tests for Reopening Schools and Businesses. The tests, also known as serologic tests, have been producing inconsistent and inaccurate results. Serologic test results should not be used to make decisions about grouping persons being admitted to congregate settings, CDC, via guidance.

Since “overall prevalence of antibodies in most populations is likely low,” the tests could produce false positives “less than half” of the time.
