Cherry Harvest Hit By Snow
The cherry farmers of the Columbia Gorge are battling something new – snow on cherry blossoms!
Some of the orchards bloomed last week, since the weather was showing 60° & 70° temps. But this week, the tables turned, and physical snow fell on the branches, which is unprecedented. Farmers generally are able to deal with some frost, but they are worried about losing up to a quarter of their harvest this year.
