Grocery stores worldwide are trying to help out elderly customers who still need to shop for food during the coronavirus pandemic by offering early operating hours just for seniors. TODAY reports that at least one location of the UK supermarket chain Iceland will let in senior shoppers only between 8 and 9 a.m. local time.

“The store is fully cleaned every morning anyway, so the store is always at its cleanest and tidiest,” says 37-year-old manager Danny Burke. “The elderly will be able to come in and they won’t be intimidated by the big crowds and people rushing around trying to grab anything.”

In the northeastern U.S., Stop and Shop will begin accommodating customers 60 and older starting this coming Thursday with special hours just for them between 6 and 7:30 a.m.
