All good things must come to an end.

30 years ago, there wasn’t a craft beer scene.  People made craft beer, and businesses made craft beer, but nobody had a concept of what a “good” craft beer scene looked like.  Portland was one of the first cities to embrace such a scene, and Hair Of The Dog Brewery was one of the first breweries to pioneer the trend.

However, Hair Of The Dog Brewery poured its last beer this weekend.  The storied business is not shutting down because of pandemic, or because of labor problems.  It’s shutting down because the owner, Alan Sprints, has decided to retire.

Sometimes, things just end.
