ICYDK – The Oregon 1%, Island Fires, & Tumbleweed Money
We now know just how far from being a 1%er we all are. In Oregon, in order to reach the level of being in the top 1% of earners, you gotta be making $707K to make the list. In Washington it’s way harder… it’s $1.024K, so if you’re making only a million in Vancouver and want to feel superior, just pop over the river; you’re a 1%er over here.
Be careful with popping over rivers though; our islands are catching fire! Ross Island went up on Saturday at the old Ross Island Sand & Gravel property and burned a bunch of tires, and Sauvie Island had a tree fall into a power line that sparked up the back side where the beach is. Let’s keep an eye on Swan Island; karma loves going in three’s.
And finally, here’s a side hustle idea for you. Head over the mountains to Eastern Oregon, stand literally anywhere, hold out your hand, and catch the first tumbleweed that passes by, because East Coasters don’t have them, and they use them for decor. Some places buy big ones for $88. I didn’t realize I grew up dodging big balls of cash.
