ICYDK – Angler Fish, Swan Island Development, & Local Hero Nurse

Remember this scene in Finding Nemo?  That fish actually exists, and we in Oregon know that now, because one actually washed up on our coast just down from Cannon Beach.  It’s an angler fish, or a Pacific Football Fish; only 31 have ever been seen before, because generally they only live half-a-mile deep…  or also, in your swimming pool nightmares.

There’s one building in Swan Island that looks out of place; the Daimler Truck headquarters is there, and more is going to be built up around it, including a 110,000 ft² facility they’re building to study battery-powered electric trucking, and possibly hydrogen-powered trucks.  Lots of trucks, so make sure when you drive past on your boat that you do *this*.

And finally, let’s give a hand to Monica Johnston who just landed at PDX this weekend after a harrowing experience in Gaza.  She is a nurse and was aiding in a mission that was operating at the only functioning hospital in Gaza, battling some scary conditions and a situation very low in supplies.  She’s home safe now in a community in awe of her.
