All venue news today with the first being the Keller.  The Keller is old – so old that it can’t handle an earthquake, so they’re deciding whether to rebuild it, or build a new one up at PSU.  The deadline to decide was yesterday, but the city council floated the idea of just… having both.  OK.  They’re gonna kick that idea around for a month and decide in October.

The idea of another new venue was actually approved by the city this week for a new venue at the East End of the Hawthorne Bridge (so those empty lots right next to I-5 in East Downtown).  This 3,500-seat venue will put them in direct competition with the 4,200-seat venue they’re building at Lloyd Center.  We’re gonna have choices in about 5 years.

And finally, one of those options is gonna be Providence Park, which tomorrow will host its first concert ever as the Foo Fighters come to Portland, and remember, when doors open, this instantly becomes our biggest concert venue.  The Moda Center & the Amphitheater each hold about 18,000; this venue holds 30,000 people.  Taylor Swift, are you listening?
