ICYDK – Ping Pong, Construction Growth, & Oregon Tourism

The most exciting sporting event in Oregon was not at an arena this weekend but at the Expo Center.  Major League Table Tennis held its first ever tournament in Portland, with our team, the Portland Paddlers accomplishing a golden sweep; I don’t know what that means, but sounds exciting; I was caught up in it.

The fastest-growing industry in Oregon right now is surprisingly construction.  123,000 people worked in construction last year, more than ever before, and they expect that spike this year, with more residential being built, and data centers and manufacturing projects kicking off.  Designer hard hats would be a good business right now.

And finally, tourism should see a nice spike this year as well, as Forbes Magazine has just named the Willamette Valley as one of the 50 best places to travel in 2024.  It was specifically our vibrant winery scene cited as one of the reasons to come, so expect those to be crowded this year.  Come for the wine; stay for the hangover!
