ICYDK – School Phone Bans, Algae Blooms, & Hacked Lottery Signs
Lake Oswego is joining the growing list of school districts who are banning cell phones during school hours. The policy requires that phones be turned off and stored away (except during lunch), and anybody caught using it, loses their phone until their parent can come to the school and pick it up – and that right there is how this is going to work. Don’t get me involved, kiddo, I’ll smash that thing.
It’s the time of year when the waterways turn on us, and algae blooms start appearing where are our kids and dogs are playing. Cyanotoxins have been found in Round Lake in Camas, and it’s believed that a dog has died near Sand Island in St. Helens from playing in algae water. Not much you can do, except pay attention to signs when you see them.
And finally, it appears that the Powerball Lottery signs were hacked. The artwork that was displayed is called furry art; you’re probably already sorta aware what that is. This particular graphic appears to have been shown across the whole country, 4 of them here in Portland. Let’s just agree it could have been worse.
