ICYDK – Sixth Local Olympian, No Whale Explosion, & Yoko Ono Exhibit
Oregon has just announced its sixth athlete competing in the Paris Olympics this year, and it’s none other than Cameron Brink. The Beaverton native will be playing for Team USA for the 3×3 Women’s Basketball team, which I’ll remind you, has never not won gold in that event. It’s only been an Olympic sport once, but… Team USA did win, and defends that title.
You might have heard rumors that officials are gonna blow up that humpback whale carcass on the Oregon Coast. We’re not dumb; we’re not gonna do that… again. The carcass, near Florence, is actually decomposing on its own quite rapidly, stinks very much bad, and is in a nesting area for the snowy plover, so they’re asking… don’t go try to see it.
And finally, ready for this name? Yoko Ono has an exhibit coming to Portland this weekend. Yoko Ono’s Wish Tree is gonna be on display at the Portland Japanese Garden starting tomorrow and running through the weekend. If inclined, you can visit the tree, write a wish on paper, tie it to the tree, and it’ll be added to the 2 million wishes this exhibit has collected.
