ICYDK – Skinny The Seal, Ax Men Recovers, & Locals Win Gold

Skinny The Seal stands out amongst harbor seals in Oregon, mainly because she’s about 3 times older than other seals.  Mostly harbor seals live into their teens, but Skinny is 49 years old, and if she makes it another year, she’ll be the oldest harbor seal ever.  She lives at Oregon Coast Aquarium if you wanna visit; and you should because her kids probably never call anymore.

You remember Ax Men?  The reality show on the History Channel that they shot up here?  That thing ran for for 11 years, and it’s just been picked up by the streaming service, Philo, so if you have that (which is free), you can watch local lumberjacks give lots of meaningful looks edited to be way more dramatic than they actually were.

And finally, more locals crushing at the Olympics.  You probably saw this dude come from 5th to first in the final stretch to win gold in the 1500m.  That’s Cole Hocker, he’s a former Duck, and also Sophia Smith from the Portland Thorns scored the game-winning goal against Germany, sending Team USA to the finals on Saturday against big, bad Brazil.
