ICYDK – Taxing Tips, Stolen Merchandise Bust, & Interstate Bridge Tolling

No Tax On Tips is not a new idea, but Oregon might just do it on our own.  We could have a bill to vote on next year about it.  Consider that Oregon, by law, pays everybody minimum wage, so employers can’t pay people less if they’re getting more tips; that does happen in other states.  Also consider…  does anybody claim their tips?  You have to be real honest for that.

Congrats to the Marion Co. Sheriff’s Office on this bust; several hundred thousand dollars of stolen merchandise was recovered from a dude’s house in Salem who was part of an organized retail theft ring.  8,500 Blu-Rays & DVDs, 800 vinyl records, 1,000 toys, and 2,200 Lego sets.  The 2,200 Lego sets alone were probably a half-mil.

And finally, I keep pushing for the state and the feds to stop doing this, but they don’t listen…  they’re asking for public input on tolling for the Interstate Bridge project.  Just stop asking people about it.  Nobody wants it, and you’re just gonna do it anyway.  And I feel bad for the poor low-level schmuck who has to take the hate.  Just…  be a regular government and ignore us.
