In Case You Didn’t Know – 05-09-2023
The Department of Forestry is gonna be exporting some firefighters to our neighbors to the North. Up in Alberta, there’s something like 100 fires happening right now, and 22 Oregon Firefighters are gonna go lend their expertise to putting ‘em out. We’re still fully staffed to handle anything here; we’re just gonna lend a hand.
About 6 miles north of Vancouver, there was a landslide that has covered up the Amtrak tracks. Landslide happened yesterday; it wasn’t huge, they think they’ll be able to have it cleared in the next couple days, and service will be restored. Right now, they’re bussing people around, which… HUGE downgrade. From train to bus? Terrible.
And this weekend will be a good one in Lincoln City, the Finders Keepers program are placing 50 glass floats out on the beach. If you find one, it’s yours to keep. They’re very beautiful, and an awesome tradition we have on our Oregon Coast. This won’t be the only weekend either. May is usually a great month for finding glass floats. And eating chowder.
