In Case You Didn’t Know – 05-19-2023

PDX has been named #1 at something, and it’s not #1 ugliest carpet or most coffee shops.  PDX, as it turns out, was #1 for on-time departures this last year.  No airport did that better.  And of course, the ugly carpet thing.  We should be proud.

The Corbett Fire department has a cool piece of technology that will help with rescue efforts this summer.  The new drone, as you can see, can drop off a life jacket to endangered swimmers, and also has infrared to help find them.  Awesome, have it bring me a beer as well.

And finally, it’ll be noisy in Hillsboro this weekend, but for the coolest reason.  The Oregon International Airshow is this weekend, starts today and goes through Sunday; plenty of military and civilian aircraft.  Plenty of people doing stuff in planes you didn’t know they could…  and plenty of…  vendors selling things that have nothing to do with it.
