Kathie Lee Gifford Leaving ‘Today Show’

After 11 years Kathie Lee will be leaving ‘The Today Show’ and you can probably imagine the emotions her cohosts are feeling!

NBC apparently begged Kathie Lee Gifford to stay on ”The Today Show.” Executives were going to allow her to take off large amounts of time to make movies and record music. But she felt it was time to leave.  “As we all know, Kathie Lee’s plate has been overflowing lately with film, music and book projects, and after giving us eleven extraordinary years, she’s decided to focus her attention full-time on those other creative endeavors,” NBC News President Noah Oppenheim wrote in an internal memo.

From 1985 until 2000, Gifford co-hosted “Live! with Regis and Kathie Lee.” In 2008, she became Hoda Kotb’s co-host on the 10 a.m. hour of “Today.” She is going to be greatly missed but it looks as though she’s got a few projects ahead of her that will definitely be successful!
