Kenny Chesney Receives 2020 CRB Humanitarian Award

Kenny Chesney was honored in Nashville on Wednesday with the 2020 Artist Humanitarian Award. The country A-lister received the honor from the Country Radio Broadcasters’ board of directors during Music City’s annual Country Radio Seminar. “I have to tell you, I have a lot of emotions standing up here,” Chesney told the crowd. “I am embarrassed and uncomfortable, but God has given me the gift of communicating with people through music… and that’s given me a unique platform to help, especially with the Virgin Islands, with Songs for the Saints, which was written in the moment and came from the heart.”

Chesney also performed three songs during his appearance at the event, including Songs for the Saints’ #1 single “Get Along,” as well as 2015’s “Save It for a Rainy Day” and 2004’s “When the Sun Goes Down.” Chesney donated all proceeds from Songs for the Saints to hurricane victims on the island of St. John; he also created the Spread the Love fund in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombing to benefit amputee survivors.
