While the weekend wasn’t quite as large as anticipated, it was still the second straight weekend to top the same weekend last year. Leading the way for a second weekend in a row was “The Lion King,” which is close to topping $1 Billion worldwide.  In the runner up spot was Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood” raking in a $40 Million debut.  It’s the largest three-day opening to date for the director.

Both “Aladdin” and “Spider-Man: Far From Home” crossed the $1 Billion globally this weekend as well.  Here’s the top 5:

1. The Lion King – $75,524,000
2. Once Upon A Time In Hollywood – $40,350,000
3. Spider-Man: Far From Home – 12,200,000
4. Toy Story 4 – $9,872,000
5. Crawl – $4,000,000
