Mitchell Tenpenny dropped a new track with a lyric video Friday on YouTube titled “Here.” The country artist says the song, which he co-wrote with Jordan Schmidt and Marc Beeson, was inspired by a gift from his late father.

“When I went into my writing session the day we wrote this song, the guys asked me what I had been up to,” Tenpenny explained in a statement. “I had been working on the truck my Dad left me when he passed. I was just overly aware that life can be short and it left me with this feeling that all we have is right here, right now.”

Tenpenny previewed the song during at his most recent “#TenpennyTuesdays” live session, which he plans to continue throughout April. He’s also hinted he may unveil more new music by this summer, when he hits the road on Jason Aldean’s We Back Tour.

Meanwhile, hopefully you’ll like “Here” more than Tenpenny’s dog, Cash, who seemed unenthused when his owner asked him for his opinion on the track on Instagram.
