Nathaniel Rateliff Debuts Video for “Willie’s Birthday Song” in Honor of Nelson Turning 87

Willie Nelson turned 87 on Wednesday, and to celebrate, fellow country artist Nathaniel Rateliff dropped the official music video to his aptly titled new tune, “Willie’s Birthday Song.” The four-minute clip features cameos from Rateliff’s collaborators on the track–including singers Nikki Lane, Courtney Marie Andrews and Nelson’s sons Lukas and Micah, who all provide background vocals. There are also shots of Willie’s sister Bobbi Nelson playing piano as well as his longtime harmonica player, Mickey Raphael.

Rolling Stone notes that the track’s audio was originally shared last week online, while a vinyl release is planned for this coming summer. “Willie’s Birthday Song” is also the latest entry in Rateliff’s “Marigold Singles” series, which raises funds for his Marigold Project foundation in support of economic and social justice organizations.
