Carly Boyd got engaged this past weekend on the sands of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and immediately wanted to share news of her impending nuptials with her dementia-stricken grandfather. Problem was, he was under quarantine at his North Carolina nursing home due to the coronavirus outbreak. So Boyd walked up to the window of his room, held her left hand up, smiled, and showed him her ring.

Her granddad proceeded to get up and touch hands through the window with Boyd, who appeared to be on the brink of tears. “I just put my hand on the window, and he put his there too,” Boyd told KOLD-TV. “I just told him I love him, and he said, ‘I love you, too, and I hope to see you soon.'” Boyd is getting married next year, and hopes her grandfather will be there to see her walk down the aisle.
