One Person Injured In Shooting Outside Franklin High School

Portland, Ore. — Police say the shooting happened in the parking lot outside Portland’s Franklin High School Saturday night.
The shooting happened just after 7:30 pm while a basketball game was underway inside the school gym. A police officer working overtime detail at the school heard the gunshots and called for help and started investigating.
Officers found a juvenile with a possible graze wound, but they refused medical treatment. A 15-year-old boy was detained and later arrested for an unrelated warrant and a new charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm.
Police Chief Chuck Lovell says there will be extra police around the school Monday.
I was very concerned to hear about the shooting outside Franklin HS last night, and I’m grateful that there were no serious injuries. I want to highlight the immediate response by officers who were there and ran toward the gunfire.
