Plant-Based “Egg” Company Buys Manufacturing Facility to Cut Costs & Grow Even Bigger
Being the resident vegan at the station, I’m always looking for plant-based options that resemble everyday foods. Just Egg is a fantastic plant-based alternative to eggs. And now, they’re going to be even more available and affordable!
The company that sells Just Egg and Just Mayo just bought its first manufacturing facility, according to Bloomberg News. Just Inc. purchased a 30,000-square-foot facility in Appleton, Minnesota. The move is supposed to lower costs, increase supply chain control and grow the company. The company, which says it has sold the equivalent of about 17 million eggs already, wants to grow exponentially next year. Right now, it costs the business about 20 cents to make one of their “eggs,” made from mung bean proteins. Their goal is to cut costs to about five cents.
And honestly, tastes pretty close to the real thing!
