Portland, Ore. – A Portland Police Sergeant, Patrick Mawdsley, was arrested by the Meeker County Sheriff’s Office in Minnesota following an off-duty incident on July 3rd, 2024. Mawdsley was involved in a non-injury, single-vehicle crash and was detained for an impaired driving investigation. He was carrying his Bureau-issued Glock pistol at the time.

Mawdsley was criminally cited for Careless Driving and Carrying While Under the Influence of Alcohol, both misdemeanors. After the citation, he was released from custody.

Mawdsley, an 18-year veteran of the Portland Police Bureau assigned to the Specialized Resources Division, has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

In a statement Chief Bob Day said that “As law enforcement officers, we are held to a higher standard. “I look forward to learning the results of the complete and thorough investigation when it is complete.”
