A common practice when making an offer on home is to include a “love letter” to the homeowners to convince them that choosing your offer will leave their home in the best hands.  This practice was banned in Oregon (to eliminate discrimination) on January 1st, but a federal judge has ruled this ban to be unconstitutional, citing free speech laws.

The appeals process is ongoing, so the matter is far from settled, but for now, the practice is legal.
