This year is the 20th anniversary of the year Garth Brooks went pop.  He released and album as Chris Gaines in what was supposed to be a precursor to a movie that never actually got made.  It’s a shame, because if the movie was made it would give the underrated album a lot more credibility and context.

All that aside, actor Donald Glover, who is also an R&B singer going by the alias Childish Gambino, went on an Australian radio show this week and randomly did a brilliant cover of the Chris Gaines single “Lost in You.”  The song was originally written by Babyface and recorded by Garth, as his alias Chris Gaines.

It’s certainly not country, but it’s a good reminder that Garth once made a KILLER R&B album.
