I’ve seen some memes that I really didn’t care for this weekend, and I feel like somebody needs to say something.
If you’re going into a football match-up as the clear favorite, there’s really no need to gloat about your victory afterward. Here’s the meme that triggered this:
The person posted this… today. The Monday after the Civil War.
When you’re the Oregon Ducks, you are perfectly allowed to celebrate your victory. You have been a dominant force in the Pac-12 for many, many years, and you deserve to enjoy your victories… but you certainly don’t need to poop on the Beavs. You are always the clear favorite, so when you win, nobody is that surprised. You don’t need to do touchdown dances on the graves of Oregon State fans.
Now, if the situation is reversed? Beaver fans get to dance all damn day long. There gets to be 1,000,000 memes about the victory. Why? Because they were the underdog. When the underdog wins, they get to rain hell for days after. But not you. Sorry. Them’s the rules.
I can say this, because I’m a Patriots fan. And they got beat handily by the Texans yesterday. The Texans. Texans fans get to get in my face all day today, because they caused an upset. Believe me, if the scores were reversed, we wouldn’t be posting anti-Texans memes today. We’re not allowed… we’re the defending champs.
