“The Irishman,” “Bombshell” “Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood” Lead 2020 SAG Award Nominees
The 2020 Screen Actors Guild Award nominations were revealed Wednesday, with The Irishman, Bombshell and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood tying for the most film nominations with four apiece. All three are up for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture, while individual nods went to The Irishman‘s Al Pacino and Joe Pesci, Once Upon a Time‘s Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt, and Bombshell’s Charlize Theron, Margot Robbie and Nicole Kidman. The Irishman and Hollywood also scored Outstanding Stunt Ensemble nods.
Among the notable cinematic snubs, Marriage Story was shut out of the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture category, despite three individual nods for Adam Driver, Scarlett Johansson and Laura Dern. Robert De Niro was also snubbed for his leading role in The Irishman–just as he was earlier this week by the Golden Globes. However, De Niro was already scheduled to receive SAG’s Life Achievement Award at next year’s event.
On the TV side, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel led the pack with four nominations, followed by several shows that scored three nods, including Fleabag, The Crown, Game of Thrones, The Kominsky Method, The Morning Show, and Stranger Things.
The 26th annual SAG Awards will air live on TNT and TBS on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at 8 pm ET. A host has yet to be announced.
