The Lion King Takes The Crown from Frozen
The Snow Queen must pass her crown to The Lion King as Jon Favreau’s version of the 1994 classic has overtaken Frozen as the highest-grossing animated film of all time. After another successful box-office haul over the weekend, Simba and company have now earned over $1.33 billion worldwide, according to Cinema Blend. Elsa and Anna previously held the record with $1.28 billion.
Despite many calling 2019’s The Lion King a live-action remake, it technically falls into the animated category thanks to its heavy use of CGI. Which other animated flicks fill out the Top 5? Well, that would be Incredibles 2, Minions, and Toy Story 3.
