This jolly little turkey is sitting outside the Winterhawks Skating Center in the Raleigh Hills area. He’s an important piece of holiday decoration, and that’s for one reason…
…BECAUSE IT’S THE ONLY THANKSGIVING DECORATION IN TOWN.
This right here is a shining example of why we decorate for Christmas in November. That turkey is pretty cool… but it’s just him. There’s no GOBO lights or laser show… there’s no little buddy inflatables… there’s nothing else. A big reason for that? Turkey is the only visual icon associated with Thanksgiving… that’s it! Christmas has Santa, the reindeer, gingerbread men, nativity scenes, candy canes, trees, etc… Thanksgiving just has a turkey.
Props to the Winterhawks for doing that one… but I know for a fact that on Black Friday, that turkey will go back in box, a huge Santa will appear in his place, rotating lasers will adorn the walkway, and the Christmas Lights will find their way around the trellis.
My point is… Christmas decorations are better. That’s why we skip straight to them during the colder months.
