Growing up with two moms is all I’ve ever known. Since I was 3 years old I have been raised by two of the most loving, caring and considerate women in the world. I am so thankful to have been blessed with these amazing role models.

But, as many of you might know, growing up with divorced parents was not easy. And to be honest, my relationship with both of my moms didn’t used to be as great as it is now. Being a young girl with two moms was hard and frustrating, and I can only imagine raising a young girl with an attitude as strong as mine.

My step mom didn’t have to take me in as her own, but she did. From sitting at softball games for hours on end, to picking out my outfits each day and braiding my hair, and even pushing me to be responsible even though I CLEARLY did not want to be.. she raised me to be a strong and independent woman. I look back now and kick myself for being such a mean and bratty teenager for pushing her away, but our relationship is stronger than ever and I’m lucky to have her as one of my best friends.

My birth mom and I have had a bumpy road. But over anything, shes always been on my side even when I was wrong. Growing up my mom was my best friend and still is today. Though now she lives in another state, it makes me so happy to see her happy and it makes seeing her that much more special.

To both of my moms: thank you. Thank you for setting differences aside and always putting me first. Thank you for the endless support and love. Thank you for the girl talks, the sushi dates, the laughs and the tears. Because of both of you I carry some of the best advice and attributes that no other girl gets the privilege of having.

For those of you who have two moms like I do, show them both your love today. ❤️
