Too Many Apples?

We aren’t eating as many apples these days. The Capital Press reports consumption is down 11 percent in the last five years. The head of the Washington Apple Commission, Todd Fryhover says consumers are confused by all the different varieties they find at the grocery store. He says Washington has 25 varieties of apples.

He also says apples face increasing competition from berries and other fruits.
