Why your BBQ grill may be sad this fourth of July?

Last 4th of July I was planning on the perfect weekend, grillin and chillin with family and friends and then suddenly everything went upside down and I ended up in the Trauma center for 9 days after falling off my party patio roof, and now this July 4th without hot dogs is one of the most un-American things I’ve ever heard – but it could happen, due to a short supply of hogs.

Tasty piggies have been in short supply since the pandemic began due to lower production and a high loss of hogs due to disease.  Experts warn that as we’re starting to gather more, lots of people are gonna want to throw some hot dogs on their grills this summer, which could lead to increased demand – and much higher prices.

Your summer breakfasts might look different, too, with bacon prices expected to get higher, too. One food industry analyst advises that since bargains on pork might be few and far between as the weather warms up, you should “stock up when you find a good deal.”
