Willie Nelson Announces New Album “First Rose of Spring,” Shares Title Track
Here’s some “willie” big news for country fans! Willie Nelson announced Friday that he’s coming out with a new album on April 24–five days before his 87th birthday–called First Rose of Spring.
The LP features cover art designed by Nelson’s son, Micah, and was produced by Buddy Cannon. Nelson and Cannon also co-wrote two songs on the album, “Love Just Laughed” and “Blue Star.” Meanwhile, Rolling Stone reports that the tracklist also includes covers of Toby Keith’s “Don’t Let the Old Man In” and Billy Joe Shaver’s “We Are the Cowboys.”
To mark the news of the album’s release, Nelson shared a lyric video on YouTube for the project’s mournful title track, which was co-written by Randy Houser.
