Chick-Fil-A Is Fine

It’s fine.

As another Chick-Fil-A location opens its doors in the Metro area, it is time that we, as Northwesterners, reaffirm a basic truth.  These fast food franchises that creep into our area to much fanfare?  These “hallowed” names that stoke the fire of transplants’ hearts as they yearn for the cheap food of their youth?  These famous American iconic institutions that have eagerly earned their way into the souths and the heartlands and the east coasts?  These joints?

They’re fine.

They make a good sandwich.  There’s no denying that the burger from In-N-Out is a good burger.  There’s no denying that Shake Shack makes a good milkshake.  And, it can never be denied that Chick-Fil-A makes a good chicken sandwich.

But is it the greatest thing ever?  Naw.  Of course not.  It’s fine.  It’s a tasty chicken treat.  But so does Burger King.  Burger King’s Spicy Ch’King sandwich can go toe-to-toe with Chick-Fil-A’s best any day.  So it’s not like we are hurting for delicious options.  This is NW, and what’s more, this is Portland!  One of the capitals of culinary delights of the entire country.  You can find better food within one block of any of these locations.

So to the brand new Chick-Fil-A on TV Highway in Hillsboro?  We welcome you with open arms…  but don’t get a big head.  You’re fine.
