ICYDK – Madness Payouts, James Beard Finalists, & Swap Meet Begins

Pac-12 teams won 9 games in this year’s March Madness, and when that happens, the NCAA kicks back some money (per win) to the conference fund.  Every seven years, that fund pays out, which will be next year.  But guess what?  Next year, it’ll be the Pac-2, so Oregon State & Washington State get to split $17M.  What a nice going-away present!

Congratulations to six Oregon chefs and restaurants for their six nominations in the prestigious James Beard Awards.  It’s a foundation that gives out awards based on excellence of cuisine and inventiveness and work culture.  4 nominations are in Portland, one in Ashland, and one in McMinnville, be proud you live in a foodie state.

And finally, continue to be proud of our diversity, because today is the beginning of…  the PIR Auto Swap meet.  2,000 vendors at Expo Center, all selling and trading, and the variety is wide.  Basically, if you’re a car hobbyist, you could ride the MAX there, and find enough parts to build your ride home.  It goes all weekend, but go today to get the best junk; I mean deals.
