Last week, in an op-ed describing her experiences as one of the only black women in country music, Mickey Guyton described the time she found out she’d been disinvited from an event, according to Saving Country Music.

“On one occasion, I left my ailing husband, who almost died from sepsis, in California just four days after his life-saving surgery because I had been invited to be a part of a female empowerment music video… I arrived at the airport exhausted but excited. I checked my itinerary only to find that the entry had been deleted; I had been disinvited.”

Turns out, the event was a video shoot for The Highwomen’s “Redesigning Women.”

When asked to comment on the situation Thursday, Maren Morris tweeted, “we were notified of this yesterday and were completely mortified that such a giant miscommunication occurred under our watch.. and have each reached out to Mickey privately with the utmost respect and apologies. It shouldn’t have happened and isn’t what we stand for.”
