Schools Out, Time to put the kids to work

Ok, Mom & Dad, Last day of school is this Friday for most including my kids, so that means they are going to be bored and wanting to play all day on the tablets, Xbox’s and Maybe binge watch tv all day.  Now if that is what you are cool with then great, but some of us have to work a normal 8-5 job and when we come home after a long day,  the last thing I want to do is clean up after them sitting around all day. So here are some cool things that you can teach them and make them learn something meaningful during the Summer break.

Make a Summer schedule with a calendar & keep that in an area that is easily accessible to your kids. Here is something easy and what we do and it helps with a few little life skills as well

Monday – Laundry Day Separate your clothes, teach them about Temperatures and how to measure out  the detergent so when they move out and off to college  they know what to do

Tuesday – Dishwasher is full of dirty dishes, clean dishes & put away and keep things tidy

Wednesday – What’s for Dinner?  Let them Choose and cook it up giving you a break, might be homemade pizza or spaghetti, so enjoy the home-cooked meal  and it teaches them how to cook

Thursday – Pet Duties, Go for a walk enjoy nature get outdoors,   clean up the back yard messes or the litter box, this will teach them to work as a team and relieve stress on you

Friday – Clean Rooms, grab the trash and put away everything that has been left out. and Mom and Dad can come home to a clean house and be happy

Rewards/Points..Sit down with your kids and come up with a point system so the kids can get rewarded by cash  so they have some spending money for the movies, candy, bowling, whatever
