Hillsboro, Ore. – Police are investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting in the parking lot of the department’s West Precinct. Police say they encountered two suspicious drivers in the parking lot near Southeast 10th and Baseline just after 6pm last night. Sergeant Eric Bunday says the armed driver was shot and died at the scene. The other driver and officers involved in the shooting were not injured. It’s still early in the investigation. No names have been released. The other driver was not taken into custody, and it’s still not clear if he was connected with the armed suspect. Hillsboro Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the shooting.

At 6:11 p.m., a Hillsboro police officer investigated a suspicious circumstance between the drivers of two vehicles, both men, in the West Precinct parking lot. During the encounter, one of the drivers was armed with a handgun and refused to drop it, and shots were fired. The armed driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The other driver was uninjured. A handgun was recovered at the scene.

The investigation by the Washington County Major Crimes Team is ongoing. No further information released at this time.
