The State of Oregon plans to send $5 million in unclaimed funds to current and former Oregonians.

Checks will range from $50 to $2,500.

This is the first time ever that the state has reunited this many people with their lost funds. Typically, people must apply to access the funds.

“Mid October, people will begin to receive letters informing them of the forthcoming checks,” the Oregon Unclaimed Property Program said in a statement. “The initial letter will be followed by a subsequent letter and check in early November.”

The money is part of the $700 million in unclaimed funds the state holds on behalf of 3 million people.

Questions about unclaimed funds can be directed to the Oregon Unclaimed Property Program via email at [email protected] or phone at (503) 986–5251 or (503) 986-5200.
