Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ray grew up in Saratoga, Wyoming before moving to Gwinn, Michigan during his high school years. A natural athlete, he played baseball, football, and competed on the wrestling and track teams.

Ray and the cast recently received their second CMA Award for “National On-Air Personality of the Year” (previous win in 2017), following a third ACM Award in the same category (2018, 2016 and 2014).In 2018, Ray, along with Eddie and Lunchbox from The Bobby Bones Show, began hostinga new podcast called Sore Losers. Launched as part of Bobby Bones’ Nashville Podcast Network, Sore Losers is a daily show featuring a trio of 30-something friends as they discuss all things sports from a fan perspective, as well as other pop culture and lifestyle topics.

When he’s not providing on-air news updates and serving as the resident “jock”of popular country morning show–he set the Guinness World Record for fist pumping at 17 hours and 15 minutes –Ray spends his free time working out and enjoying every angle of sports: playing, watching, betting and fantasy leagues. He also loves to spend time with his family, including his twin brother; vacation at the beach and the mountains with his girlfriend “bae” (everyone hates that nickname, including Country star Jake Owen); and supporting charitable causes such as Stand Up To Cancer, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and colorectal cancer awareness.
